• New OB/GYN joins Rome Medical Practice Obstetrics and Gynecology

    C. Nicole Pineau, MD, has joined Rome Medical Practice’s obstetrics and gynecology practice, All About Women and is accepting new patients at the office located in the Beeches Office Complex, 7900 Turin Road, Rome.

“Dr. Pineau is a compassionate caregiver and a perfect fit for our practice,” said Rome Medical Practice Administrator Lisa Taurisano, MHA, BSN, RN. “Her patients will appreciate her patient-centered focus and commitment to providing quality care for women of every age.”

Dr. Pineau’s interest in medicine began at a young age through an interest in science and grew into a lifetime goal of helping others. “I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in medicine,” she said. “In medical school I loved surgery, but I also loved emergency medicine and preventative medicine.”

“Being an OB/GYN is the perfect package of everything I love about medicine. There’s a surgical aspect, a preventative aspect, at times emergency needs come up, and of course there’s nothing in this world quite like delivering a baby,” she said.

Dr. Pineau looks forward to providing personalized care to her patients, which she develops through open communication and involving the patient in the process. “Unlike a lot of fields of medicine, I have the ability to guide a patient through a lifetime of medicine beginning at age nine or 10, all the way to 99 or 109,” she continued. “All women have individual issues, depending on their stage of life, where they’ll need an obstetrician or a gynecologist. I am here to help guide them through the process.”

Dr. Pineau takes the time to work with her patients to help them understand their health conditions, which treatment options are available and in the case of expectant mothers, prepare for the future. “Pregnancy brings a lot of questions,” she said. “No matter what people hear from the outside world, every pregnancy is different and unique. My role is to help guide women through the various aspects and changes their bodies go through during pregnancy and prepare them to have the healthiest baby possible.”

A native of Canada, Dr. Pineau earned her medical degree from the Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands Antilles. She completed her residency at Mount Sinai hospital, Chicago, IL. While at Mount Sinai, Dr. Pineau served on numerous committees aimed at improving women’s healthcare services, including minimally invasive gynecology, gynecological quality improvement and perinatal quality improvement.

One of the reasons Dr. Pineau was attracted to Rome Memorial Hospital’s medical staff is the commitment the hospital has shown to maintaining low cesarean section rates and to women’s health services. “I see birth as a natural process, which should be encouraged whenever possible,” she said. “Of course, when a C-section is medically necessary, we have all of the expertise to help our patients through that process, but there are fewer complications and a faster healing process when birth can be achieved naturally.”
