Memorial Contributions to Rome Hospital Foundation fund Gazebo
for Rome Hospital’s Residential Health Care Facility Residents

Griffo GazeboContributions made to Rome Hospital Foundation in memory of Joseph G. Griffo were used to fund a new gazebo for residents of Rome Memorial Hospital’s Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) to enjoy the outdoors.

Mr. Griffo retired from the City of Rome after 40 years of service. He passed away at age 95 at the RHCF in 2019. Grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff, for their care and compassion during his stay in the hospital and at the RHCF, his family asked that memorial contributions in his name be made to Rome Hospital Foundation to support the Resident Activities at the RHCF.

Residents use the Griffo Gazebo to enjoy more time outdoors, play cards and games, and visit with their families. Since Mr. Griffo took great pride in taking excellent care of his lawn and flowers surrounding his home, flowers were added throughout the summer months in his honor for residents to tend and enjoy as part of their activities.

“We are grateful to the Griffo Family for choosing Rome Hospital Foundation for their memorial contributions.” said Brian Miller, President of Rome Hospital Foundation. “The contributions made in memory of Mr. Griffo enabled us to fund a beautiful outdoor space for the RHCF residents that would otherwise not have been possible. We look forward to seeing the residents enjoy the space for their activities in honor of Mr. Griffo for many years to come.”

Located on the third floor of the hospital, the RHCF is an 80-bed nursing home that provides long-term care, short-term rehab and respite care. It has been recognized by New York State as a top performing nursing home for four consecutive years.
